CBS Farm Program

Farm Program Letter

Community Based Services has been supporting people through quality services in the Hudson
Valley and Taconic regions since 1981. In 2012 we opened our community Day Habilitation Without Walls program in Westchester and we are happy to announce that program is now expanding into Putnam and Dutchess Counties.
Community Based Services, in collaboration with New Horizons Resources, is introducing Cultivating Dreams, a vocationally based agricultural program which will take place at Briggs Farm. Participants will enjoy hands on experiences in farming and animal care.
Our comprehensive community Day Habilitation offers door to door transportation and engaging activities. Each participant will be offered individualized opportunities for exercise, recreation, volunteer work, nutrition awareness, social skills and safety training in community based settings.
Cultivating Dreams: “Where individual growth is nurtured and dreams blossom”
 People will learn to care for an animal, to fully appreciate what it means to nurture another being.
 People will learn to understand where their food comes from by growing and harvesting food.
 By doing actual farm labor, people will recognize the importance of their contributions, while realizing their capabilities.
 People will gain a sense of the lifecycle of plants and animals, while learning to appreciate how all things are connected.
 Spending time at the farm will allow people to develop a strong connection to the environment and realizing the possibilities for future employment.
