Unleash the Power of Imagination

What happens when creativity, community, and a love for superheroes collide? You get Zero to Hero—a one-of-a-kind comic book born from the imaginations of people in the CBS day program, brought to life through months of storytelling workshops and artistic collaboration with artist, Brian Chan.

🎤 The Premise

Three aspiring superheroes. One chaotic game show.
Only one will earn the title of Official Superhero.

Set against the dazzling backdrop of a 70s/80s-style game show, Zero to Hero follows three original characters—each created by participants in our day services program—as they compete in a series of quirky, heroic challenges. The twist?

A charismatic game show host (also dreamed up by one of our storytellers) ties it all together with flair, fun, and a few surprises.

✏️ How It All Began

Last fall, we launched a creative journey with a simple idea: what if everyone had the chance to design their own superhero? Through a series of workshops, participants explored their interests, strengths, and imaginations—developing characters that reflect their unique perspectives. With the help of professional illustrator, Brian Chan, those ideas leapt off the page and into a full-fledged comic book.

📚 Our Mission

“This comic book project derived from the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to express themselves and to be celebrated for their creativity. In alignment with Community Based Services’ mission, this creative endeavor was meant to empower individuals to explore their unique interests, strengths, and imaginations by designing their very own superheroes. These characters reflect both their creativity and individuality.

By bringing their characters to life, we aimed to invest in the abilities and dreams of those we support so we can foster artistic expression, self-confidence, and an enduring sense of accomplishment.” -Group Day Habilitation Manager WOW Frank DiMaggio
