Milton Murdock and Sheryl Brown-Lewis Named Employee of the Year

Milton Murdock and Sheryl Brown-Lewis both have the honor of being named the 2021 CBS Employee of the Year. Through a secret ballot vote, direct support staff from CBS programs have recognized Milton and Sheryl for their exemplary work in promoting the agency’s mission. In all that they do, Milton and Sheryl provide the individuals they support with the best quality of life through residential and community-based opportunities.

Milton and Sheryl join the ranks of other staff who have reached this high level of achievement. In addition, they were presented with a certificate and a box of chocolates.

Milton is one of the many milestone employees at CBS. He has been supporting people through CBS for an astounding 23 years. This exceptional worker began as a direct support professional and is now shift leader at a CBS residence in Cortland Manor. There he delegates work and assists staff with their responsibilities. Milton is always available to his colleagues who come to him for advice. What has kept Milton at CBS for this milestone?

“Love for this job. Love for the care I give to these individuals. Each is very unique. Every day I learn from them, and I use what they have taught me to work better with them,” says Milton.

Sheryl Brown-Lewis: Making an Impact

Activity Leader and DSP Sheryl Brown-Lewis has only been with CBS for two years, but in this time has made a tremendous impact. “Sheryl is one of the most compassionate people I know and that transfers over to how she engages with the people we support. She is always calm, and I have never seen her have a bad day,” says Day Habilitation Manager Amy Lusk-Mannfolk.

The part of her job that Sheryl enjoys most is ensuring that the lives of the people she supports is fulfilled to the best of their abilities. “I like providing guidance, support, and of course the love that they all need,” says Sheryl.

What’s next for these outstanding DSPs?

Milton is happy to continue his creative and compassionate work with the agency and to keep learning from the people he supports.

“This agency is exceptional. CBS goes above and beyond to satisfy its workers,” says Milton.

Sheryl is currently pursuing a degree in elementary education, a field in which she will no doubt continue to make a difference.
