In-Home and Site-Based Respite
Respite provides an opportunity for caregivers to take some needed time off while offering peace of mind that a loved one is being cared for by an experienced professional. Respite services are available for families either in-home on an hourly basis, or at one of our site-based locations where individuals can engage in peer socialization and skill-building activities that help develop independence.

Community Habilitation

Day Habilitation Without Walls
Our comprehensive Without Walls program allows individuals to engage in volunteer and recreational opportunities using the community as a classroom. We also have our own Agricultural Skills Training program and Life Skills Center. Many participants who start out in Without Walls are able to transition to our Prevocational Services. CBS is now accepting applications for this exciting program which is conducted in small groups, each with its own vehicle and a 2:6 staff ratio. Door-to-door transportation is provided.

Residential Opportunities
Our residential sites provide twenty-four hour support that focuses on providing an environment that promotes personal choice. Each person helps plan his or her community-based activities, such as shopping, entertainment, and social interests. Our staff treat everyone with courtesy, dignity, and respect. We truly get to know and understand each of the individuals we support.

Community Based Prevocational Services
Community prevocational services are habilitation services that assist the individual to develop employment readiness skills and that are provided in the most integrated setting appropriate to the needs of the individual receiving such services. The services consist of learning and work experiences, including volunteer work, that are not job-task specific but contribute to an individual’s ability to attain paid employment in the community.

Employment Training Program
The Employment Training Program (ETP) offers job seekers with developmental disabilities opportunities to pursue internships in community businesses with the goal of gaining paid employment. ETP provides a comprehensive process to assist you in learning about the world of work, gaining real work experience, acquiring work skills, building relationships at work and maintaining employment. The ETP process is designed to assist you in gaining a well-matched internship leading to paid community employment.

Free Standing Respite
For those care givers who require overnight relief on the weekends, CBS now offers respite from Friday evening through Sunday evening on our beautiful 10 acres farm in Dutchess County. Our FSR program can offer someone in your care up to 48 consecutive hours of activities, learning and camaraderie.
