Community Based Services (CBS) is excited to announce the launch of its new afternoon Respite program, conveniently located off Route 22 at the Hudson Valley InterArts Center in Patterson, NY. This program provides essential support to individuals with special needs and their families, offering a safe, engaging environment for participants in the late afternoon. In addition to this service, CBS provides community habilitation and respite services for children and adults as well as housing, employment, and day habilitation for teens and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
“Our afternoon Respite program provides more than just supervision. It offers participants training in activities of daily living, opportunities for socialization, and a variety of recreational activities to enrich their afternoons. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where participants can build skills, connect with others, and engage in meaningful experiences,” says Site Based Respite Manager Emma Outhouse.
Program Details
Designed to give caregivers a break and to bridge the gap between the ending of a day program and the time when caregivers return home from work, the Respite program runs from approximately 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Additionally, a Saturday activity schedule is currently in development to offer more opportunities for enrichment. Participants who are currently enrolled in Day Habilitation through CBS will be seamlessly dropped off at the InterArts Center, where they will be welcomed by our dedicated team of staff members who are specially trained to work with people with special needs. Evening pickup from the program is required.
Eligibility and Enrollment
For those unsure about their eligibility for this Waiver Service, our knowledgeable staff are available to assist in collaboration with your Care Manager to determine eligibility and guide you through the process. CBS also offers a fee-for-service option to accommodate different needs and preferences.
