The Third Annual CBS Charity Golf Event: A Day of Fun, Fairways, and Fundraising
commbasedsedev
The Third Annual CBS Charity Golf event, held on August 26th, brought together passionate golfers and kind-hearted individuals for a day of friendly competition and fairway fun at the picturesque Hollow Brook Golf Club. This year’s event was more than just a showcase of golf skills; it was a heartwarming celebration of community spirit and support for a meaningful cause. Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and donors, the event raised an impressive $55,000, of which the net funds will directly benefit the people supported at the Hudson Valley InterArts Center.
Golfing for a Cause: Supporting the Hudson Valley InterArts Center
The funds raised at this year’s tournament will make a tangible difference for the people CBS supports through its innovative programs. The Hudson Valley InterArts Center, CBS’s latest initiative, is a transformative space that empowers and uplifts people with disabilities through the creative arts. Now open to the wider public, InterArts provides a welcoming space for creative expression, self-development, and community building, reflecting CBS’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all.
A Day Full of Excitement and Connection
The day was filled with more than just swings and putts. Participants had the chance to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Hollow Brook Golf Club while connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion for making a positive impact. Although no one hit a hole-in-one to drive home the coveted Jeep Wrangler (from Volz Dealership of Westchester), the event was brimming with excitement thanks to a silent auction and raffles that added an extra layer of fun to the day. We are so thankful to the many local businesses that donated exceptional prizes.
Golfers were thrilled to win certificates for group golf outings at esteemed clubs, luxurious stays at charming inns, and gift certificates for local restaurants, including a delicious dinner at Augie’s Prime Italian. Some walked away with unique experiences like golf fitness assessments and adventure packages from Spins Hudson. The 50/50 raffle added to the thrill, making sure there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Highlights from the Day
After a delicious clubhouse lunch, featuring Jamaican patties generously donated by Tower Isle, 105 golfers headed out for a shotgun start. The golfers’ skills on the course were nothing short of impressive, leading to a number of well-deserved winners throughout the day. As the sun set on a day of fun and camaraderie, everyone returned to the clubhouse for a delectable dinner featuring prime rib or salmon. The evening concluded with inspiring speeches by CBS CEO Vicki Sylvester, Ph.D., and Senator Harckham, who both highlighted the incredible impact of community support.
Matt Nusinov, Gold Sponsor Materion’s director, operations excellence – project/program management, spoke about the success of working with CBS’s supported employment program and specifically staff member Erin H. “Erin has never been late or missed a day and she has been a pleasure to work with since her start,” he said.
Erin shared her own touching on-the-job experience at Materion and the independence she has gained from it. “The people are friendly, and I like working on the computer,” she said.
