At Community Based Services, a non-profit dedicated to empowering adults with disabilities, we understand the importance of finding trustworthy and reliable care for your loved ones. It’s natural to seek familiar faces – people you already know and trust. One crucial boundary we uphold is that caregivers cannot reside under the same roof as their clients in order to preserve the professional nature of the relationship. Build a care team you can feel comfortable with by leveraging your existing network & referring them to CBS. We will hire that individual to care for your loved one!
- Family: Consider adult children, nieces, nephews, or even cousins who possess the qualities you’re looking for in a caregiver. Patience, compassion, and a positive attitude are all valuable traits.
- Friends: Do you have a reliable friend with a nurturing personality who might be interested? Someone who enjoys spending time with your loved one could be a great match.
- Neighbors: A friendly neighbor who you see often could be a great option. Someone who is already familiar with your loved one’s routines and needs can provide a smooth transition.
Don’t limit yourself to your immediate circle! Consider these additional resources within your community:
- People Where You Worship: Your faith community can be a network of kind and compassionate individuals who might be willing to help. Reach out to trusted leaders or fellow members who you know share your values.
- People at Work: Does a reliable co-worker have experience caring for an elderly parent or young child? They could be a great resource, especially if their schedule complements your needs.
- People at School (if applicable): If you’re looking for childcare help, consider parents you know from school events or activities. Their recommendations might be invaluable, especially if they have positive experiences with other parents offering care.
- Family: Do your adult children have friends who might be interested?
- Friends: Do any of your friends have adult children looking for caregiving opportunities? Consider the skills and personalities of these individuals – a friend’s recommendation can be a great starting point.
- Neighbors: Has your neighbor mentioned a kind and trustworthy young person who needs a job?
