WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY —Community Based Services (CBS) has been named a recipient of the 2026 Best Places to Work for Women award, presented by Best Companies Group in partnership with Bridge Tower Media. The recognition builds on CBS’s growing list of workplace honors, which already includes being named one of the Best Places to Work in Westchester and one of the Best Places to Work in America. Throughout this tradition of excellence, CBS has prioritized the people behind its mission, creating a workplace where women are supported in growing, leading, and thriving, while also fostering a culture where every employee is valued for their contributions.
Best Places to Work for Women is a survey-based competition that recognizes top companies for women in the workforce across the United States. Eligible companies launched a survey process with Best Companies Group over the past year, and survey data was analyzed and compared across all participants, with particular focus on the experiences of women within each company’s workforce. Winners and final rankings will be announced at a virtual celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
A Tradition of Recognition
This latest honor is the newest chapter in a multi-year story of recognition for CBS. Having already earned distinction as a Best Place to Work in Westchester and in America, CBS’s addition to the 2026 Best Places to Work for Women list reflects the agency’s continued investment in creating a workplace where employees can build meaningful careers rooted in purpose, respect, and opportunity.
While this award specifically celebrates CBS as a workplace where women can succeed, the recognition is also part of a broader organizational culture that values the talents, leadership, and contributions of all employees. Across programs and departments, CBS continues to support staff members of all backgrounds and roles who bring creativity, compassion, professionalism, and dedication to the agency’s mission every day.
Women at the Heart of CBS
Women make up much of the CBS workforce, with well over 250 women employed across programs, administration, nursing, compliance, human resources, finance, residential services, day habilitation, community habilitation, respite, and employment services.
Women are also well represented in CBS leadership. The agency’s CEO, COO, CFO, Director of Human Resources and Talent Development, Director of Compliance and Electronic Records, Director of Quality Improvement, Director of Nursing Services, Director of Day Programs, Director of Marketing and Communications, and many residential, day habilitation, community habilitation, nursing, HR, finance, and program managers are women.
CBS has continued to support advancement opportunities for women, with five recent examples of women stepping into leadership or expanded leadership roles, alongside numerous women serving as Day Habilitation Managers, Residential Managers, Assistant House Managers, Team Leaders, and Senior Residential Habilitation Managers.
The tenure of women in leadership is another hallmark of CBS. Seven women in key leadership roles have been with the agency for many years, including Chief Executive Officer Vicki Sylvester, Ph.D., among others. This is a testament both to the opportunities for growth at CBS and the agency’s ability to retain women in meaningful leadership positions.
CBS also supports employees through flexible scheduling wherever operationally possible, offering full-time, part-time, substitute, per diem, and variable-hour positions across programs to help employees balance work with family and personal responsibilities.

CBS’s recognition as a Best Place to Work for Women is especially meaningful because it reflects a workplace culture grounded in respect, opportunity, and inclusion. At CBS, celebrating the advancement of women does not stand apart from valuing others. One recent example is Day Habilitation Manager Frank DiMaggio, who was named a 2026 Forty Under 40 Mover and Shaker honoree by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes rising leaders under the age of 40 who are making a significant impact in their professions and communities. DiMaggio’s recognition reflects the same values at the heart of CBS’s workplace culture: leadership, innovation, community connection, and belief in human potential.
