Friends, Family, and Fall Fun

Our Annual Fall Festival at Cultivating Dreams.

There’s something magical about autumn at Cultivating Dreams farm, and this year’s Fall Festival organized by the day services team reminded us exactly why this season—and this place—hold such a special spot in our hearts.

Bright orange pumpkins lay in the pop up pumpkin patch on the field of Cultivating Dreams Farm. A rustic wooden fence is in the background. One large pumpkin with stem sits on a haybale in the foreground.

Mother Nature couldn’t have ordered better weather if we’d asked. Brilliant sunshine sparkled through trees adorned in their finest fall colors and music floated on the breeze lifting everyone’s spirits. Our 10-acre farm looked like a postcard come to life, with greenhouses bursting with the season’s final harvest and a pop-up pumpkin patch dotting the landscape.

The Culitvating Dreams sign adorned with corn husks, hay bales, potted mums.

The entrance to the festival was especially inviting with flowers, corn stalks and unusual pumpkins created with balloons by Gwendy the Balloon Artist.

Community Comes Together

The true magic of the day wasn’t just in the weather or the scenery—it was in the faces of friends, families, and community members who gathered to celebrate the season together. Families enjoyed being part of their loved ones’ day, friends laughed over games, and new connections formed over shared experiences. The farm buzzed with the kind of joyful energy that only comes when people slow down, step outside, and simply enjoy being together with a cup of cider and donut in hand.

Meet the Stars of the Show

Cowboy Dallas Fields arrived with his beloved therapy pets and fan favorite dog, Buck.  Together with interesting animals from 2 x 2 Petting Zoo, they instantly drew gentle interactions and wonder.

Our resident chickens also got in on the action, proudly strutting around their domain and delighting visitors who may not have had the chance to meet real farm animals up close.

A Show-Stopping K9 Demonstration

One of the day’s most thrilling highlights came when the Sheriff’s Department K9 unit arrived for a special demonstration. A large crowd gathered in anticipation, and they weren’t disappointed. The specially trained German Shepherd and its handler showcased the incredible skills and precision of this working dog. From obedience commands to detection work, the audience watched in awe as the K9 officer demonstrated the vital role this four-legged officer plays in keeping our community safe. The demonstration was both educational and entertaining—a perfect addition to our Farm Festival lineup.

Art Meets Agriculture

In a beautiful fusion of creativity and community, local artist Brian Zickafoose worked alongside guests to paint a stunning, larger-than-life sunflower mural on our iconic red shed. Watching the mural come to life throughout the day was mesmerizing, and knowing that so many hands contributed to its creation makes it even more special. The vibrant sunflowers will stand as a permanent reminder of this perfect fall day and the community that makes our day programs and Cultivating Dreams so special.

Engagement and Entertainment

Fall themed activities invited engagement and entertainment on the expansive field and renovated barn.

Pumpkin Bowling challenged participants to knock down “pins” with small pumpkins, resulting in plenty of laughter and friendly competition. The oversized Connect Four game drew crowds of strategic thinkers, while the Ball Toss tested everyone’s aim.

One of the day’s most popular activities was the scarecrow station, where groups worked together to dress and stuff their own unique scarecrows. The creativity on display was remarkable—from silly and whimsical to surprisingly sophisticated, each scarecrow reflected the personality of its creators.

For a memorable souvenir, groups and individuals lined up to have their photos professionally taken in front of a fall-scaped backdrop. Face painting, a raffle and pumpkin art rounded out the day’s events.
