Community Based Services (CBS) is proud to announce a transformative partnership with WIN Waste Innovations, a regional leader in sustainable waste management. With a generous $20,000 contribution, WIN Waste is deepening its commitment to CBS’s mission by supporting the organization’s cutting-edge job skills program in Peekskill and surrounding areas. This type of life-changing investment will directly empower individuals with disabilities, equipping them with the tools and training needed to pursue meaningful employment and independent living.
This donation marks a significant milestone in a longstanding collaboration between CBS and WIN Waste, reflecting a shared vision for inclusive communities and sustainable futures.
WIN Waste Innovations operates cutting-edge facilities across the region, including a construction and demolition recovery site in Somers, NY, and a waste-to-energy plant in Peekskill. The Peekskill facility alone diverts approximately 631,000 tons of waste from landfills annually, generating renewable energy for about 30,400 homes and businesses. By integrating environmental stewardship with social responsibility, WIN Waste exemplifies how corporate leadership can drive meaningful change.
“This partnership is a powerful example of what’s possible when mission-driven organizations and visionary companies unite to expand opportunities for people with disabilities. WIN Waste’s support enables us to provide hands-on training and real-world experience that prepares our participants for success in the workforce. Their commitment to sustainability and inclusion is truly inspiring.”
CBS Chief Executive Officer Vicki Sylvester, Ph.D.
"We are honored to offer continued support to CBS in their mission to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives and provide the best possible quality of life through residential and community-based opportunities. With over 120 local employees in Westchester County, WIN Waste Innovations is proud to go beyond essential waste services to help build stronger, more inclusive communities. Supporting CBS means investing in dignity, opportunity, and the kind of care that uplifts everyone.”
Mary Urban, Senior Director of External Communications & Community at WIN Waste Innovations
