At CBS we’re proud to partner with local organizations like Croton Point Park in Croton-on-the-Hudson, New York, where our program participants contribute their skills and talents to maintain beautiful, clean spaces for the public to enjoy.
Through our jobs program, people with disabilities are employed at Croton Point Park, helping the park’s maintenance crew. These dedicated workers help keep the parks pristine, especially during the busy summer months, by picking up litter and ensuring the environment remains inviting for thousands of visitors. Armed with garbage pickers and bags, they are an integral part of the team, contributing to the overall cleanliness and beauty of these much-loved community spaces.
The feedback we’ve received from Park Superintendent Sara Cavanaugh, who manages Croton Point Park and Croton Gorge and oversees staff, has been overwhelmingly positive.
“Westchester County Parks looks for ways to include and employ all members of our community. CBS provides an extra helping hand in keeping our facilities beautiful for the public. My experience working with them has been extremely positive. We rely on them heavily to help us out during the busy season, and they come into the office to start their day with a good attitude and a smile. We are so appreciative of the work they do!”

At CBS, we are committed to empowering individuals with disabilities by providing them with the support, training, and opportunities they need to succeed in the workplace. By partnering with organizations like Westchester County Parks, which is dedicated to hiring from all segments of the community, we’re able to help individuals gain valuable skills while contributing to their local environment.
This year’s NDEAM theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” reflects our mission at CBS. We believe everyone should have the chance to find meaningful employment, and we’re proud to see our participants make such a tangible impact at Croton Point Park. Together, we’re not only keeping the parks clean but also fostering inclusion, independence, and empowerment through employment.
As we celebrate NDEAM, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Park Superintendent Sara Cavanaugh and Croton Point Park for their partnership and for recognizing the value our program participants bring to the community. This collaboration is just one example of how access to good jobs can benefit both individuals and the broader community. We look forward to continuing this important work!
