Recognizing Dedication and Compassion
DSP Week is a national celebration that shines a spotlight on the dedicated team members who work tirelessly to support people with autism and developmental disabilities. While their work may not always be visible to the broader community, the impact DSPs have on the lives of the people they support—and their families—is profound.
“The true strength of DSPs lies in the trusting relationships they build. These bonds empower individuals with disabilities to set goals, pursue dreams, and work toward achieving their fullest potential.”
Director of Residential Services Keith Segalini Tweet
Going Above and Beyond
Our DSPs are more than caregivers—they are highly-trained, person-centered heroes who go above and beyond every single day. From helping with daily routines to planning memorable experiences, DSPs ensure that each person they support has the opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.
This past year, our team organized unforgettable adventures, like trips to Broadway and ball games as well as Rocking Horse Ranch, where participants enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, and fun activities. These moments remind us that inclusion and joy are just as important as daily support.
Celebrating Our DSPs
At CBS, we make sure DSP Week is filled with gratitude and celebration. Across our programs, staff are honored with:
Special meals and breakfasts-to-go
Gift bags with favorite snacks and treats
Positive message boards filled with notes of encouragement
CBS-branded gear like tee shirts contributed by generous families
Team events—from barbecues to scavenger hunts—that bring joy and connection
This year, thanks to Director of Day Programs, Betty Rivadeneira, DSPs in the Without Walls program also had the chance to recharge with classes at the Cultivating Dreams Farm, including arts and crafts, cooking with agricultural coordinator Olimpia Bernard, and photo painting led by InterArts instructor Jon Harrison—a well-deserved opportunity to relax, create, and have fun.
A Grateful Community
"Over the past year, you’ve met new challenges with resilience and grace. Your impact is felt daily by the individuals we support, their families, and every member of the Community Based Services team. You are the heartbeat of our mission, and your work inspires us all."
CEO Vicki Sylvester, Ph.D. Tweet
